In my town, illegals are working openingly everywhere. Groups of cops are sitting in a restaurant watching them mow the lawn at the restaurant?
Why are the police, the INS, IRS not pursuing these law breakers?
Heck...we put everyone in jail in America--we have over 7 million young men and women in our prison system and that doesn't include the federal prisons.

Fines-incarcerate-deport--it's a relative expense compared to the billions in welfare aid, hospital costs to treat illegals, housing, and all the taxes they evade paying-whilst exporting all their US dollars back to mexico.
The cops here have nothing to do--so let's put them to work gathering up all the illegal aliens in my town?

There are enough laws on the book which need to be executed. It amazes me how lot of bills get introduced by lawmakers and do not even make it.

I don't understand:

1. Why they can't figure out a way to find common grounds in all the bills and at least pass those provisions.
2. Why can't they take a stock of what is already on the books and ensure to find ways to execute those laws and then bring bill to pass any uncovered and missing laws.

I'm going to play devil's advocate. So, let's suppose we round up the illegals and kick them out. OK. It's going to cost $. So, raise taxes, round em up and ship em out. A lot of them are going to come back, so taxes will have to stay high. A lot of business will miss its cheap labor, it will probably leave the US. Executing this plan will bankrupt the US. I agree that we have fine laws to combat this problem, hence the term "illegal immigrant". But as perfect as these laws are on paper, in practice they cannot reasonably be enforced.

Exactly!
The only things missing from our current legislation are stronger border control measures, harsher penalties for employers, and banning of social services without proof of citizenship...
But I'd even be willing to forgo those for a couple years and just enforce the laws on the books!
