This was our first cycle ttc.i just took a test and the second line showed up but it is very light. i know they say any line, no matter how faint is positive but it's hard to believe. What are evaporation lines that i've heard about? could it be an evaporation line? This is just crazy i figured it would take a least a couple months.

It doesn't necessarily take a long time....when I was TTC with my first, I got pregnant the first month.
Take the test again in a few days to make sure. Evap lines usually don't appear until after the the test is no longer valid (usually about 10 minutes).

First of all, I got pregnant on the first try too, so it does happen!

Second, an evaporation line is a line that appears after the test has sat passed the alotted time. Check the box, but usually it's about 10 mins. So if the faint line showed up right away, it's not an evaporation line. But if you left the test and came back 10 mins or more later, it could be.

My first line was faint too... I showed it to two other people to make sure I wasn't imagining it, LOL. Faint just means your hormone level is still building, totally normal. I tested again 2 days later and that line was 3 times as dark.. there was NO question then. If it makes you feel better, test again tomorrow. I'm sure you're little line will still be there.

Call your doctor and make an appointment to have it confirmed. Time to start prenatal care!

Good luck and congrats!

I believe an evaporation line is a line that appears after you let the test sit longer then it takes to complete the test. If you read the box and wait the time it says and check and the faint line is there, chances are you are pregnant. If you let the test sit there for longer and I don't mean acouple seconds later or a few minutes later.. I mean like an hour later or something, then I'd take another test because the line could have just appeared from sitting so long.

It's almost certain you're pregnant unless you read the test results after 10 minutes. I had such a faint line I didn't even see it at first. And it took almost the full 5 minutes to appear. When I noticed it I just about fainted, because I thought it was negative. I was kind of obsessive about it so I ended up taking about 4 more tests over the next 2 days until I could get to the doctor for a blood test. The line progressively got darker since my hormone levels were going up. So, if you used it right, you are pregnant! Congrats!

Hey with my first one it only took 5 weeks and with this one, well I was on the pill nonstop for 2 years. This time the lines were faint. I have heard if it is a girl there will be a higher level of HCG in your system because she is secreting it also. This was the case with baby number 1. This time I am not sure what it is. I took 6 pregnancy tests I was in such a shock and all of the line-versions appeared light. The digital read "Pregnant" both times. I am 16 weeks so it definitely indicates pregnancy when it is a faint line.

I always heard that a line is a line...no matter how faint. As long as it is read within a reasonable amount of time...they say within 15 min. If there was absolutely no line and you looked at it all day long and there was still no line but the next day there was one I wouldn't trust it. However if you noticed that line within 15 min. or so....congratulations!!!

congratulations. you are pregnant. you cant get a positive line unless you are definately pregnant. because it needs the hormone in your body for it to show up. you just might have a small amount in your urine. negatives are alot easier to be false as people might test before the hormone is there. the same thing happened to me. unfortuneatly i lost that baby, but the important thing i i knew she was there. no matter how faint the line is

You're right - any faint line is still a positve test. After it's dried and the line is still there, then it's pretty definitive. Congrats!

Hi. Any line whether feint or not is a positive. Just make sure you read the result in the time limit the instructions say.
