Common problem with Fords. First, If you have another key that fits, try it and see if it works any better. And yes, use a spay can on the switch of WD40 all locksmiths use it. I was one for many years.
If there is a significant difference in keys, switch....
There is a good possibility the ramps may be worn out. Get a locksmith or dealer to check the code on the key and have a new key cut to the code.
For this they use a hand held code reader, and cut by the numbers. Don't just get the key copied as the ramp wear will also be copied.
If the key work fails, you have a worn out lock and will need a professional replacement as the new lock comes as a set. It contains an ignition cylinder, 2 door locks, and some contain a trunk lock. Some sets contain a glove compartment lock.
It takes a bit over an hour to change all the locks out.

It's possible that your ignition cylinder has a bent tumbler or two in it. If thats the case a new cylinder is needed. Also check and make sure the key is not even slightly bent. Forcing the key out will eventually ruin the cylinder.

The oil will lubricate the cylinders in the lock. You may want to try another key. If you have the same problem, I would replace the ignition switch. good luck.
