Would you initiate in providing food, homes for the poor, the unfortunates or would you buy land in foreign countries to make profits for yourself, considering you were a millionaire or multi-millionaire? Some that I know are so sincere and hard working but they can never afford to buy a decent little place to call home, they have been like that for 2 generation. They are unfortunate, I wish I could help them...

I'm not a multi-millionaire, but I do give what I can. Unfortunately, though, I have to investigate each charitable organization so that I make sure my big bucks don't go to illegals (I guess that's what taxes are for).

Many years ago I came to a point, I was sick of debt. So, I have learned to pay Cash for everything. To do this I have to Budget and Save and when I have the money for what I want, I go buy it. I save for a Sailboat now and have set a 5 year goal. But, may actually have the money in 2 years. I could buy a boat now and pay interest over the next 5 years or save and have more by waiting.
Now from the above. I would invest a larger portion of the money into a type of Trust Fund and use the interest only to help people in my country (USA). I would do this, not a charity. I would know who I help and the Government could not tell me who! I would know for fact the person(s) needed what I gave and not just take because they could.
The Trust Fund could also build "Principle" over time thus giving more interest to help more. So, what happens, instead of giving the money away, until it all gone. It would keep working for many generations to come. The only problem is when I die, is having a sincere and trustworthy person take over, which I would doubt very much. I sure would not trust a Bank or Charitable Organization.

Hand-outs seldom do any good for more that just a brief period and then the recipients are right back where they were before. If you really want to help someone you have to help them break the cycle, which usually means some long term goals and a lot of involvement on their part. Multi-generation welfare recipients seldom want to go to that much effort.

I definitely would put the money towards the poor in my country, the homeless and to cancer research. The idea of receiving anything back for doing so is ludicrous.
