I dated a girl named Sarah Miller. She completely screwed me over. It took me close to a year to even want to date again. A few years later, when i moved to a new town, i went to this church one day and when i was looking through a church directory. I found Sarah Miller in it. I nearly had a heart attack and almost left church never to return again (mostly because i was probably going to have to kill her). I found out soon after that it was someone else with the same name. To this day i refer to her as my ex, even though she's 10 years younger than me... :) We are good friends, and it's just a fun nickname.

Yes. Fortunately, the person in question spelled her name in an unusual way ("Malissa"). Meeting "Melissa"s is much more common, and I've now got the wincing under control. =)

Yes, when I was younger I went out with this guy that was such a CREEP!! I was young and stupid though. Anyways, here I am married and have a daughter, one of the shows my daughter watches has a guy on with the same name as this goof. Every time they say his name I cringe.

NO/ but move on and forget yesterday. You cant do anything about yesterday, but you control today and tomorrow. Maybe you should start giving people nicknames to help you forget a name that bothers you. Good Luck!

Yes, then I'm shocked by the thought, then I inevitably feel that I'm being psychotic for allowing it to still get to me. Then the anger sets in that I still let it bother me.

I haven't been there but my son is naming my new grandson after my ex (his Dad) and the thought of calling that baby that name is not appealing to me at all.
