We left a camp site early one year from upper michigan because the flys were very bad. There was a lot of them and BITING LIKE CRAZY!! Isn't there any spray or lotion to prevent them from biting?

I just got back from visiting my grandma up in Mackinac area and OMG they are horrible up there! I don't remember them ever being that bad.
Not sure how to prevent them in the first place but I can say that if you put hydrogen peroxide on it & really rub it in and then follow that by putting on neosporin (sorry for the spelling) they will go away much faster.

Wear long sleeves, long pants, a hat, and use something with DEET in it. And at that, you'll only slow them down. Some of the flies are really, really determined.
