It was a bad idea.
It was, effectively, the Western powers imposing their colonial will on the area without taking any account of the opinion of the people living there.
Unfortunately, it's a fait accompli now

I don't believe Israel's creation was inherently a bad idea, its execution is what created the schism we see today. Suddenly dropping off several million people on your land will anger anybody, not to mention the Palestinians were pushed into other areas, where they became even more impoverished. When somebody suffers, it is the way of the world for them to spread that suffering to ease their own.
A better situation would have been a very gradual implementation, through mutual respect and negotiation. Small areas should have been negotiated, with people in those areas given aid and compensation, with the Jews there being properly protected by being 'people of the book' and being under UN juristiction. If a process like this had been placed over the period of 3 or 4 decades, the Israeli state, whilst being more of an arab muslim one, would have been one of integration, understanding and respect.

It is obscene to question the "advisability" of the existence of a country.
Rather, if you wish to talk about "creation," the use of the term "Palestinian" for an Arab ethnic group is a modern political creation which has no basis in fact - and had never had any international or academic credibility before 1967.
Of all that Arabs have demanded for themselves since the end of World War I, they have been given 99.5 percent. In 1921 the League of Nations defined Mandate Palestine, as The Jewish National Home, to be "open to close Jewish Settlement."
In 1922, the British Mandatory Government subtracted the entire region east of the Jordan River, 76 percent of the Jewish National Home, to create the Arab Kingdom of {Trans}-Jordan. It then progressively restricted or banned Jewish immigration and settlement even west of the Jordan River, rigidly blockading the Land of their fathers to Jews trying to escape the gas chambers of Europe.
In 1947, the United Nations attempted to whittle away the remnant of the Jewish National Home with a second partition. If the Arabs had accepted that offer, they would have had 83 percent of the Land of Israel-Jewish National Home, even though the bulk of them had no roots and no history there.
The real injustice is depriving Israel of its historic homeland, in order to invent a 23rd Arab state where none ever existed.

Abinitio it was void.unwarranted.irrelevant and untenable.
UN which wanted to carve it out of Palestine, failed to establish an Arab Palestine state.
Britain, which was holding Palestine under UN mandatory powers, announced that it would give up those powers on May 14, 1948. Did it hand over the governance of the territory to UN?
The main Jewish elders conclave declared that ISRAEL was born on 14/05/1948. Anon, US, Britain ,France and Russia
recognised it.
The Arab nations around Israel not only refused to recognize it, but also launched a war on it. The new born nation defeated existing members of UN!
On that date there was no Palestinian State! How then could
Israel annex Palestinian areas ? Hence, Israel's taking away areas falling under Palestine state and driving the Palestinians as refugees was illegal, immoral and unjusticiable.
US has set a bad precedent by defending Israel all along.
US and Israel are definitely guilty of defeating the charter and spirit of UN.

I think it was a good idea. But even though you state you don't have an agenda, merely asking the question is itself kind of curious, don't you think?
After all, nobody asks such a question about any other country.
Does anyone ask if it was a good idea to create Jordan?
Or Saudi Arabia?
Or Canada for that matter?
The mere fact that Israel has been in many wars (not of its own choosing) is totaly irrelevant to the question.

The creation of israel was the worst mistake of modern times. First, because it did nothing for the real jews, those of semitic origin, and catered to the euro convert zionists who's agenda has always been money, power and control. Second, because it displaced, oppressed or offended everyone else in the region. Third, because it was forced through the UN by england and america using sympathy for the holocaust.

It may have not come about the right way, but in general I believe all groups should have a stake in some part of the globe and a place to trace their lineage. That simple concept is really what links civilizations, for good or for bad.
I think fighting would have erupted either way as that is the natural course for men who seek power through land/resource ownership.

Israel was a mistake in the way it was created, but after 6 million of your tribe have just been butchered the sympathy card is an extremely strong hand.

badly handled after the 6 day war they have become wayyy to overconfident, we need to step back and look at the broader picture and see it for its human quility rather than its religous significance, that is what is REALLY confusing the issue is the real estate they are shedding so much blood was the location of great miracles and inspiration

It was both a mistake and badly handled, the Israelites should never have left their original homeland in the first place.
They became nomadic and the degenerate element of their race became parasites of European society and their descendants are still with us today, where what is referred to as a fast buck is to be earned to the detriment of the indigenous population.
However as is the case with every race there is always that element that ruins the reputation of the decent members of a society.
