I have not found the couple that I have seen very useful. I find much better information on the internet. His books seem to give information for people who want to go on a budget and stay in out of the way places and participate in activities that I am for the most part not interested in. Many times the books have too much information and not enough good directions to show where places are in relation to other places, i.e., maps of locations/places. You can get good maps on the internet.

I use his book for interesting sites, little known but excellent shops.. gelato, riccorelis in Italy... Now and then he even presents a good B&B (in Portugal). Much of the info you can get from his web site or browse at B&N

I have gotten some good pointers on how to travel. Exp: use a money belt, what goes into it and what kind to buy. Not to use travelers cheques anymore. Places to avoid and so on.
Many things are revisited so the information changes and not stale.
