Clean as in what? . . .clean inside or outside? . . .if its clean outside, just get a duster or a damp cloth and wipe it . . .if its on the inside, DO NOT DISMANTLE IT, just use a vacuum to suck out all the dirt . . .but you could also send it to a repair shop to get it cleaned . . .

Keep your LCD monitor clean with these steps:
1. Turn off the computer and display
2. Use water only to dampen a lint-free cloth. Do not spray liquid directly on the screen
3. Wipe the screen
You may also use a mild glass cleaner that contains no alcohol or ammonia, available at most office supply stores. Apple has tested a product called Klear Screen and found it does not cause harm to plastics.

I usually use a specsl/ sunglasses cloth and wipe it over the screen gently. Although, you are able to buy some spray solution which will not harm your screen from most computer stores.
Regarding the cracking of the fragments, just don't press too hard, small pressure to the screen will not cause these fragments to break.
I hope this helps~

Is it a touch screen or something???If its a simple LCD monitor, then i dont think u need to think so much...just use plain wet cloth n clean it. Else u may also use some cleaning liquid, take small amount of liquid on cloth n clean it. Just make sure that u dont use too much of water or liquid...just wet the cloth n then clean...Once u're thru with the water or liquid cleaning...wipe with a plain dry cloth...hope it helps

I bought some of those little damp clothes, that you are supposed to use on them, they were smeary. I just spray a little glass plus on a paper towel, and wipe it down. My cousin the computer consultant, does that with his, so I use it too. So far it hasn't hurt it. But probably just a damp soft towel would work just as good. I used that sometimes, because mine mostly gets dusty, since I don't smoke.

First, identify the brand of monitor. Visit the web site for the manufacturer. Look for tech manuals or support. Somewhere in the manual, you will find the proper method for cleaning. Good luck..
