I thought the movie was being released on July 4th. But I have seen commericals and even the web site now says july 3rd???? I am a little confused--maybe is it because it will release at midnite or something??!! does anyone know anything about this?? My son is a huge fan and we dont want to be late or miss it!! We want to see the first showing at our theatre.

The best thing to do is contact the theater and ask them when it will be showing.
Pirates of the Caribbean was supposed to be released on Friday ( I don't remember the exact date) but all the theaters in my area had 8:00pm showings on Thursday.

The release date is listed July 3rd. They may be trying to cash in a little more on the holiday movie goes by releasing it the day before the holiday. Since July 4th is mid week lots of people will probably take off early on Tuesday, if they go to work at all.
It's becoming increasingly popular to release movies a bit "early" like in the Pirates 3 case, and the release date for Harry Potter was recently moved up 2 days from July 13th to the 11th. By releasing the film in the middle of the week the numbers still count toward the weekend and it gives a bigger "opening weekend" profit.
