I have not read it yet, but I agree with the premise of the argument. That critical thinking has been usurped by ideology, talking points, and that favorite of Colbert; "Truthiness".

This usurpation has been so effective, that it has now backfired. The president can't get his immigration reform passed. It's one of the few policies he has pursued that is based in practical reality and logistics instead of pure belief and 'Truthiness'. Yet he can't sell it becasue he spent 6 years convincing the nation that it is OK to not think about things you have fellings about.

And I won't even mention the Creation Museum (oops, too late)
