2x - 6 - (3x + 15) = 3x - 6 - 7

2x - 6 - 3x - 15 = 3x - 13

- x - 21 = 3x - 13

- x - 21 + x = 3x - 13 + x

- 21 = 4x- 13

- 21 + 13 = 4x - 13 + 13

- 8 = 4x

Distribute and collect terms:
2x-6-3x-15 = 3x-6-7
-x-21=3x-13
-4x=8
x=-2

check: -10 - 9 = -12 - 7 Yep!
