Could the Polynesians have made it to Lake Titanca?

Based on the recent evidence that they may have touched on Chile's shores.

I have always thought that Polynesians not only touched upon South American shores but carried on regular trade between Asia and Oceanica and the America's. But then I live in Hawai'i and I see what is possible.
