the graphic card I have now is good .... but I like full graphics ... any way I was thinking about buying nVidia ( 7600 GT 256MB) or ( ATi X1950 GT 256MB ) ... about the RAM I think 1GB DDR 400MHz will be my choice if RAM is more important than graphic card

Assuming you have an AGP slot, for games I would get the graphics card. nVidia or ATI are fine - I sorta side with the ATI x1950 AGP card myself since I have one (HIS x1950 IceQ3 256mb AGP).

You will see no difference going from 512mb ram to 1gb of ram (I did this and it had no effect), and I think you will be disappointed in your gaming experience by doing so. The graphics card will allow you to game in higher resolution with nearly all the details turned on.

Both are VERY important. If I could, I would upgrade both (I just did for my machine). Obviously, you can't.

The answer depends on how good or bad your built-in graphics are. I had Intel built in graphics once - it was terrible. If you can't get Aero glass under vista, it's the card you should upgrade first.

If your on-board graphics are that bad, a new graphics card is really what you need. What with DirectX 10 and Windows Vista, now is a good time to get a new graphics card.

Just promise me - as soon as you can - you'll upgrade your RAM as well. Credit cards are your friend here :) This will benefit not only games, but all your programe. I upgraded my machine (Athlon XP 2000+, GeForce MX440, 512MB RAM) to (Athlon XP 2000+, GeForce 7600GT, 1536MB RAM) and the benefit was phenomenal.

In short, if your graphics are really suffering, get a new card. If they're decent on-board graphics (very rare), get more RAM.

The RAM would give you the biggest overall boost, and given most games that are being released nowadays will not even run on a system without at least a gig of ram, and 2 preferred, the RAM is going to be the cheapest and fastest boost.

As the above poster states, built in video isn't very good, especially since a lot of on board video shares its video ram with your computer RAM, adding to the slowdown. Given that you can add another 512 mb stick of Ram for less than 20 dollars, I would advise that as your first move, and a decent video card soon after.

Here is a link to some good prices for 512 mb sticks:

with built in graphics card, the card is stealing RAM to use on its own. If you buy more RAM, you can change the amount of video RAM as well, thus slightly upgrading both with only one purchase. To change your BIOS setting for video memory, press the button to enter 'setup' right when you turn the computer on. video memory will be there somewhere, just don't mess with any other options.
