Why does water, dishwashing detergent and vanilla essence explode when put in the microwave?

Put in the microwave in a coffee mug to steam for easy cleaning and deoderising. that will be the last time i do that - it blew the door open in under thirty seconds!

Vanilla essence contains alcohol. If you put enough in (silly) it will make an explosive atmosphere. Soap and water will foam up badly as the water boils.

Vanilla essence is mostly alcohol. It became superheated and vaporized instantly.

any liquid that is stationary will blow up in a microwave because the molecules of the detergent is unstable.
