Yes, this American person cares - and he needs to go. I get a little annoyed when I find out that the AG has authorized illegal spying in our own damn country. He's a horrible person and a worse AG. Fire Gonzales.
That whole "fired prosecutors" thing was bogus. Obviously these guys serve at the pleasure of the President, and if he wants to fire them for a dumb reason then he can. That's what we get for electing a complete idiot as President.

Well, the Democratically controlled congress has absolutely nothing better to do. Apparently all is going perfectly in our country, to where we only need government that is only out to get the other guy. I know that everything is perfect. I’m happy paying a third of my salary in taxes. I’m comfortable to know that I’ll probably never get social security for retirement. I love the way the war is going, and I’m just tickled pink that I get to support the economy by getting gasoline at $3.50 per gallon! Our borders are airtight, I’m sure we’ll never be bothered by terrorists again, crime is virtually nonexistent, and corruption is a thing of the past.
Since we all live in this perfect Utopia of a world, I can see why congress would have nothing better to do than petty bickering. Way to go guys!

What's the point is a good question. Since it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks other than the president, and there is no effort which will be made to impeach Gonzales, the effort is without any real effect. It's like when the republicans in their ultimate wisdom impeached Clinton. Its all politics.
Of course I can understand why folks are upset. The country's top lawyer has done every thing in his power to cripple the constitution he has sworn to protect.

How could this country protect its image as credible and of integrity when its Attorney General is full of BS, forgetful (how good is a brain that keeps on harboring the statement 'I can't remember'), a tripot for his hiring master, and is also a flip-flopping liar? One is as dishonest and lack of credibility if he/she would want this Alberto Gonzalez to keep holding on to his office. Alberto Gonzalez is a disgrace and he does cheapen the title 'Attorney General', I guess Bush does not welcome a competent Attorney General of integrity. All he wants is an Attorney General who will kiss his butt. After all, he does desperately need a new poodle now that Tony Blair no longer fits the role as Bush's Poodle.
Alberto Gonzalez' case is another example for reasoning that America is becoming as corrupted and filthy as those corrupt nations south of our borders. America keeps sinking into deeper doom and our Constitution becoming more and more foreign with Repugs leading our government.

It is to show another chink in the Bush armor, yet another person to fall on their sword. Gonzales has been sinking the Bush ship for a long time (granted it has more holes than the Titanic did). Bush really does need to let Alberto go because he has lost all faith in most the government and most of the people. Then again if we got rid of every incomptent, corrupted person in our government, we wouldn't have much of a government.

The Gonzales scandal of the purging of U.S. Attorneys threatens our very democracy. The U.S. attorneys were purged for not illegally and improperly attacking Democratic candidates prior to the past election in an attempt to discredit them and throw the election to Republican candidates who otherwise would be unable to win. Anyone who hates democracy should want to see the Gonzales scandal swept under the rug. Otherwise, it is a major issue.

The congress must show their contempt for his answers and the contempt he has shown them. This might help Bush decide to replace him (I'm not holding my breath). The world will know Congress has done as much as possible, though.
The head of law enforcement is the big dog; having Gonzales in place is a joke. He doesn't even know what is happening in his office or if he does he lied to Congress. The law is to be upheld, not abused.

Most LAW ABIDING citizens care. The man has been "left alone" (your words) for 6 years and helped the Republicans gut both the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. He fired Federal Prosecutors for not having the "correct" political (read: NeoCon) attitude. This complete lack of empathy for anything NOT Republican has turned off so many from the GOP, I dont think they could get elected to clean pools at this point.
Bush has no credibility
Cheney has no credibility
Rove has no credibility
Gonzales has no credibility
He will be the next one to walk away and Fuhrer Bush will pardon him for his crimes against a democratic nation.

They should not because he has made a mockery of one of the cornerstones of our nation- our system of justice.
This is a man who when he was White House counsel basically said, ignore the Geneva Conventions. A man who when they tried to ram through the illegal warrantless wire tapping and they were refused by the Acting US AG, James B. Comey , he went into the Intensive Care Unit at John Ashcroft's hospital to demand that he sign and approve the document, something Ashcroft refused to do because he said it was ILLEGAL. As soon as Bush was re-elected, they moved him into the position of " top law enforcement officer", he quickly declared the program legal. As soon as the Dems won the Nov 2006 elections, he then declares that they are suspending the program the way it was run and would go through the "legal" way of getting warrants This is the person we should keep as our chief enforcer of our laws? Gimme a break. A man who lied during his appearances on Capitol Hill not once, or twice but all 3 times. He tried to influence Monica Goodling's testimony prior to her going to Capitol Hill. Enough. Bring back the integrity and dignity of the Department of Justice.

When this started Gonzales said he would take full responsibility for the entire affair. Perhaps congress is still waiting for him to take responsibility. Oh that's right personal responsibility is only for liberals and does not apply to repubs.
