Or is the idea of them containing 'other stuff' an urban myth? on their site it says they are made with flank and forequarter, whole cuts of high quality.

I guess that they would state 100% PURE BEEF _ but I do not know what their definition of PURE BEEF would be - I assume, but do not know, that they COULD use ANY part of the cow and it would still technically be classed as pure beef although may have been mechanically recovered tissue that you would not eat if it was served up in it's natural state. Having said that unless you make your own (any food) from the raw ingredients there are no guarantees what you will find "hidden" in any "fast food" be it from a chain like McD's or the freezer cabinet in your local store.

Yes and no. The beef they use is 100% beef but it's a minimal amount, so when they say made with "100% beef" or "pure beef" they aren't actually lying. But the actual amount of beef used in each burger is not a lot. Still tastes good though!

Yes and no. Their advertisements say "made with 100% pure beef", which doesn't mean that 100% of a burger is pure beef. It just means that a portion is made with 100% pure beef, but who knows what the other ingredients are. Scary.

Pure cow, probably. Whether you could term the body parts they use as beef is another story. They can't use spinal cord or brain any more since BSE, but theres nothing stopping them using various types of offal, up to and including toenails, eyeballs and genitalia. Mainly they use fat and gristle, with whatever offcuts they can pick up cheap. Makes you hungry, doesn't it?

Best not to ask what's in the "special bigmac sauce".

To answer that, you would have to analyze what the cow had been fed throughout it's life.

If it was fattened up, then that could be called "pure beef", because it had come from the cow, but it could contain a high proportion of fat.

Generally, I steer (excuse the pun) clear of processed meat.

I think that they aren't made from pure beef, because there is usage of other ingrdiants. Although, I have never watched them make the burgers, I know people who have. And they have said that they really don't use just beef.

According to the various people I know who have worked there, the regular burgers are mostly soy product. The quarter pounders are actually beef though.
