When you say lizards I assume you are talking about the small Anole lizard found in the south.
As most of the people have already answered, these little guys are very beneficial. They eat all kinds of bugs; flys, roaches, etc. They are fun to watch. The males have an orange sac on their throat that inflates when he thinks he is being threatened.
The Anole also changes color to blend in with its environment, from green to brown. It's interesting to watch them do that.
People often mistake these little guys for Camellians because they change color. Actually Camellians do not live in this country.
I hope after reading the answers you will become eco friendly with the critters in your yard. Especially the Anole.
Good Luck!

Lizards are great for eating bugs! If you live in central Florida like I do, you learn to accept them, and when you're working in the yard they really are more afraid of you than you are of them - that's why they scamper off so quickly

Lizards are cool. You should make friends with them. They're beneficial for your yard.
The only way to get rid of them would be to find their natural predators and get them to live there. Since their main predators are raptors, snakes, and small mammals like weasels and skunks, I think that probably being buddies with the lizards is the way to go.

Lizards are totally harmless to you and they are getting rid of insects that could harm your plants. I suggest you identify the kind that you have there and learn all about them. Your librarian could assist you and the WWW has plenty of information.

I hope if you're a gardener that you'll reconsider. Lizards are wonderful bug-catchers, and will not harm you or your plants. They're very timid, and are probably a lot more afraid of you than you are of them. I've always rather liked them myself; they always seem kind of inquisitive, somehow :-)

Maybe you could buy a pet to scare them out! or eat them if that fails. How about a cat or a dog? I doubt they'd stick about too long
