When I last saw it, it was at the British Museum of Archaeology at Russell Square in London. (There are a number of British Museums dealing with varying disciplines.) But I have heard that Egypt is desirous of returning the Rosetta Stone to Egypt.

Found originally by Napoleon's archaeologists, it was confiscated by the British when Napoleon was defeated. So, the Egyptians claim it was spirited away from Egypt without their permission. They want it back.

Unfortunately, the British Museum in London. It was first discovered by one of Napolean's soldiers on expedition in Egypt, and was deciphered by a Frenchman, but when Napolean was defeated, the English took the Rosetta Stone as part of the spoils of war. The Egyptian government has tried for years to get the British to return it, but they won't. Many Egyptian treasures are held in foreign governments, even though they've tried to get them back. For example, the bust of Nefertiti is in a museum in Berlin, even though it's one of the most recognizable statues of Egypt.
