I know a few people on here really dislike them but consider it on the basis that you knew they had nothing to do with it.
I dont think their campaign will help find Maddy, but that is just a viewpoint, but on the other hand they could get some comfort in the future out of raising awareness of these revolting people who snatch and molest children.

I would like them to take on board its not ok to leave children unattended and to say so publicly - saying otherwise means people think its ok.

Magenta - I don't think the Needhams and Payne's were as organised as the McCanns or as well backed. Its down to their background and a few lucky breaks but I do think they could make something out of it.
Any kind of thing that deals with these total pervs who are hanging around children is totally supported by me. Perhaps these families could get a pressure/lobby group together. Disgusts me that more people will march for foxes and animals than children

Claire B - and the majority of the public like to think foxes are being abused? I dont think so! So your answer doesn't make any sense - any society that puts animals before children is socially and morally bankrupt. We live in a society where people dress pets up and buy them choice cuts of meat etc, while pensioners starve, children get abused, and the needy live on the streets. There is no defence for it - NONE

Dave S - I reckon you would be good on the campaign too - and the more people the better - also you could convince them that leaving kids unattended is a bad idea - they don't appear to accept it for some reason so far....

No! The parents of Sarah Payne would be better or Ben Needham who was taken from Kos 16 years ago!

Im not sure I follow your line of thinking.
Letting the McCanns spearhead a child abduction campaign is like having the Yorkshire Ripper hold an appeal for sex workers who are abused.
They are the last people that should be 'rewarded' by giving them such a role.
To put it another way, you think they would be better suited to the role than me? Why? Because I havent lost my child in a negligent way yet?

Then Hornbecks have been raising awareness for years in a far different and more respectful manner then the McCanns. Whenever a child came up missing they were there helping and getting their childs name out there as well. They were not flying off here there and everywhere and raising millions or living in an expensive villa. They nearly lost everything to find their son. Nobody was helping them like the McCanns. They were not making it into a circus. I hope Madeleines ending is just like Shawns. Found alive!!!!

Great points QuickBrownFox! A star for you!
Yes, it would be great if the McCanns would spearhead a campaign for child abduction. They know firsthand the misery it means. However, i think this could take some time. They seem numb with shock & focusing on anything else other than their Madeleine may be too much for them at the moment (regardless of what our armchair detectives here on YA have concluded from what they read on blogs & reliable media like the Sun & the Mirror).

The idea of a campaign to raise awareness of child abduction is a good one but I am sure that there are better people for the job. Anyone could do it really with the right support and, dare I say financial backing.

Jeez NO!!!
I think they should be made an example of how NOT to do it!
There are many other parents out there who have had a child taken or go missing that would make far better 'Campaigners' than the McCanns.
People are irritated enough by them already without 'rewarding' them with that job.All they have shown is that they are fame and money hunters..IMO, not responsible parents!!!

There are loads of ways for raising child awareness. Running the country or the world, getting plenty of money and making a name for yourself is not the way to do it. The McCanns have just proved how revolting and sick they are. The way they are trying to find Madeline is a disgrace. They are not really trying.

Maybe not 'spearhead' but certainly be involved in raising awareness of all missing children irrespective of age or gender.
Maybe they could make a start by transferring the funds they have received into a national fund/campaign to raise awareness and also locate these children (by using any means necessary), there are far, far too many missing for far too long.
We can all help in being more vigilant in our observations with regards to children.

That would be an excellent idea but only if the campaign was not headed by the McCanns. I think they have lost all credibility and most of us are sick of the sight of them. Missing children deserve better.

i think they have already raised awareness. Child abduction has been going on for years. The sad thing is that they must have been well aware of same so why they left them in the first instance is beyond reasoning. Also you don't go out to work or go shopping without locking all doors and windows why they left them unlocked is a mystery
