I don't know, and I don't care. So I will probably be happier than someone who looks for meaning where there is none.

Why does life have to have a point?

Just be thankful that an asteroid hit the Earth 65 million years ago and wiped out the dinosaurs, otherwise we would not be here.

There is no point to life. Life exists because it can exist. People believe there is a point to life because if we didn't, we would have no reason to exist.

If you'd like to look at it from an evolutionary standpoint, we exist in order to reproduce and ensure the survival of our species and that of others.

If you'd like to look at it from a (very general) religious standpoint, we exist to do the work of god and to spread faith among His people.

My 'goal' in life rather than the point of my life is to enjoy it by means of contributing to society as a whole and accomplishing what is important to me and those around me.

In biology (the topic you posted in), the point is to reproduce.
However, I'm assuming you are asking a philosophical question. I ask myself this sometimes. It seems like, from the moment you're born, you are taught to work, then maybe you reproduce, work, pay bills, have to do what others tell you to, vote (but then after that, you get told what to do, not democracy really), work more, pay more bills, grow old, die.

I will tell you what one of my Psychology professors told me a long time ago. The meaning of life (other than 42 ;) is to assimilate reality into one's self and modify one's self in relation to the reality that one understands. Basically it's fancy-pants way of saying to live life in your own way. Do what makes you feel like a whole person.

Its your life, point it wherever you like. Just don't ask others coz others don't know answers, its not possible for them to know point of your life. Btw why do you need a point at all ??

People my tell you reproduction is the point to life. But as life is a random event, reproduction is meanly an inate drive. The point to life would most certainly reflect its random nature.

Life passes its DNA to the next generation. We are gene machines. That 's all.

However being happy in the mean time helps!
