100m? so short course meters? Well, as a girl, and an eighth grader last year, I went a 1:03 and only placed fifth at our summer championships. Boys should be faster, but it depends.

A decent time would be anything under 1:15 or so, jsut keep in mind 1:05 or below would be a pretty decent time for a 15-18 boy...

USA Swimming provides a great outling of times and time standards on their website, www.usaswimming.org. This will give you times in short course and long course and by stroke, all of which are going to play into a "decent" time standard.

To be very general, the following are USA Swimming time standards for 11-12 year old boys as of the present date:

SCY 100FR - 47:00 to 55:00
LCM 100FR - 57:00 to 1:05:00

SCY 100BK - 56:00 to 1:00
LCM 100 BK - 1:05:00 to 1:10:00

SCY 100BR - 1:02:00 to 1:07:00
LCM 100BR - 1:15:00 to 1:20:00

SCY 100FL - 54:00 to 1:00:00
LCM 100FL - 1:04:00 to 1:09:00

Hope this helps and good luck!!!

If you are talking about freestyle, anything under 2 minutes is good for an 8th grader. Fantastic would be anything under 1 1/2 minutes. Aboslutely Exceptional would be 1 minute and under. To give you an idea of what to expect at a meet, I swam the 100 freestyle in high school at 52 seconds and always landed in 3rd place. Hope that answers your question.

Great time would be around 1 min.
Average would be between 1:05 and 1:10.

Hope this helps.
