Just been on the Roadrunner records website where I was watching Dragonforce's videos for Through the Fire and the Flames and Operation Ground and Pound.....music hasn't made me this happy since I first heard Iron Maiden back in '82......opinions please....

Two good opinions so far.....you must admit, though, after the sh*t that was nu-metal (barf!) and the whinging self-obsession of all these god-awful emo (erk!) bands, isn't it nice to have a group who can a) play their instruments properly and b) seem to be enjoying it?! lol

Hmm,, mixed feelings about em.
Fast players, yes- though recently, I read that they don't play as fast live.
I think they appear to be more about speed than feel & soul. ("wankery")

I find their songs a bit samey. Herman and Sam can certainly play but as a BOF it reminds me of Helloween with pseudo Racer X shred thrown in. That said, my brother loves Number of The Beast era Maiden, Manowar and Helloween (bands I've never quite got) and Dragonforce are a current rave so it's evidently just not my thing.

I enjoy listening to Dragonforce for a while, but their music is a bit samey. I also think there is too much "look how fast we can play". I would like to see a bit more passion in their music.

Dragonforce is incredible.
But they're all technical
its like saying a thousand words per second, but it doesn't mean anything
You have to have meaning and soul behind your playing
even tho emos try, they dont have meaning either

Dragon force rock! It doesn't matter if "it's souless wankery"(add whiney mocking voice) because it's fun and not taking itself too seriously. Which gives it a lot more credibility to me than everyone trying to put as much feeling in as possible until you get music that makes you feel sick.

Eh, I like them, but to me their songs kinda sound all the same... I still think that Herman Li is an AMAZING guitarist, but really, yeah, they're the best band i've heard in a while.

Are you kidding me. This is Progressive Metal and though the musicians are talented, the whole genre lacks that adrenalin fueled rhythm. It is great that they are good at scales, but it just doesn't make for good metal.

I like their melodic sound , but they're a tad too fast at times. They're definitely good musicians. Try Nocturnal rites, They're heavy but have really catchy choruses and the singer's awesome. "Afterlife" and "Grand Illusion" are good albums to start with

In terms of technical ability, they are one of the best bands in the world but technical ability and talent are not the same thing. It's all a bit soulless. I can't stand them, to be perfectly honest.
