From experience I feel they do.
My flowerhorn gets absolutely agressive if I am near his tank, but has a liking for my cousin.
My goldfishes do a water dance as soon as they see me approach, but does not reacts to all other people in the house, and one of my oscar's follows me around whichever side of the tank I go, dinnertime or no dinnertime, does not matters, but gets absolutely upset and even sulks a little if I move away from the tank.
We already know that their 3 second memory theory is a myth, and I personally feel that they have far more sense and intellegence than what we feel about them.
:-)
Some deep and scientific studies needs to be done on this topic actually

There is no question whatsoever that fish recognize things in their environment. The recognize people when kept in tanks, they recognize territorial markers for themselves and other fish, they recognize other fish, especially species that pose a threat. Many studies have been done that confirm without a doubt fish are born with certain sets of things the recognize and can learn many others.

My cichlids definatley recognize me. Whenever I walk by the tank they follow me, swarming and begging for food. If anyone else walks by they don't react. I think my male swordtail also knows I'm the food lady.
