Re The McCanns.

When the topic pops up over the water cooler or at the bus stop are you honest in saying what you think or do you go with the majority and nod politely saying 'that's terrible'?

I generally avoid these types of questions in the workplace for one reason; if someone doesn't agree with me and they have a lame-o answer, then I'm mad for the rest of the day.

However, in social situations, I do say what I think. I am always up for a good debate, but I have noticed lately that this particular topic seems to incite answers that aren't very controversial...at this point, no one in my circle really cares for the McCanns.

I am known for being outspoken, whats the point in pretending to agree? I have become more tactful as Ive gotten older though, well i think i have.
Most people seem to think that the Mccann's were wrong to leave the children alone. Many now question the parents behaviour since the disappearance of Madeleine. So really when we nod in agreement, its because we apportion some responsibility to the parents.

I am honest. The situation has come up in many discussions between my friends and I, yet we are all open and honest. I found that a lot of people agree with me, before I have said anything. They do not just nod politely, they say what they think, and often it is just what I'm thinking.

I think it's best to be honest but also to use a bit of tact when it's expedient. I'd certainly be careful of what I said to strangers at a bus stop, whatever the subject. Safest to stick to the weather then because otherwise you might find yourself getting knifed by the local psycho!

Voice my opinion. My best friend and I got into it when this first happened because she said it was just a mere mistake and she was sure they learned from it. She does not think that anymore now that she has followed the case a bit and saw the ariel photos of the resort. She thinks its kind of fishy now but besides her anyone I have talked to about agree that the children were taken care of poorly by them being left alone.

I'm honest, my real world comments usually are, I think its awful, where on earth is she. I would never have left my child. I don't blame them for publicity. I don't think they have harmed their own child.

Ive not really judged them as parents, only my own actions as a parent.

I have been more vocal on here in the past, as a 'pro' McCann if you like, because some of the posts have been way over the top, which forced me off the fence I was happily sitting on in the real world.

No I usually say what I think....but my opinion is very often based on assumption regarding fact, rather than assumption regarding media.

I for one can not abide those with opinions based on what the papers say. Common sense prevails and makes conversation round the water cooler much more interesting.

There is no way these people bagging the McCann's would have the gumption to air their views in publc. They are cheap cowards hiding on a message board that has gone round and round in circles with the same themes now for over a month!

The McCann baggers are people who seem to get some sort of buzz from slagging them. Sicko's the lot of 'em!

i think more and more people are gettin sick of them now, and if the conversation comes up, im congruent with my views.

to be honest, not really found anyone that has totally disagreed with me, and most peoples opinion is interesting and worth taking on board, but as the truth is yet to come out, it is now going round in circles

Always honest. I totally disapprove of people leaving their kids unattended so they can go and relax - they can do that in their own place and if they don't want to get a babysitter, don't have kids or leave them at home if you want an adults holiday.

I think they should accept leaving a child home alone is wrong which they have not.

I certainly hope they find Maddy. Poor kid.
