It seems like it means that instead of doing work to feel good for yourself, or to please your boss, or to make money, you are doing work because you believe you are using the body that God made on the earth that God made, so you choose to mentally devote the work to God, who made you able to do the work.
I think it shows that God isn't as concerned with what you do, but is more concerned with the mentality you do it with. People who go to church every week because they feel like they must be seen there, or because they feel like they should, wouldn't be seen as faithful than those who go to church because they want to be closer to God, because they want to obey him, or because they want to gain insight on their life.
I think it shows that it's not what you do, but how you do it.

From my understanding, it means - - when you must do jobs for others you don't want to do or would rather be doing fun things with your friends, but committed yourself (or a parent etc. committed for you to help another)
it is offered up for a heavenly reward when necessary. . . either later in life or in death.
That is all I have understood from that saying....
Hope it helps.
