When it ends is not scary. How it end scares me more. And whether we deserve it or are we dying in deep regrets also scares me. They were saying that earth will not survive the year 1997. Nothing happened. Then earth will be gone in 2000. Then nothing happened. Then people say it is because the calendar is not correct or not the right calendar to use. So more excuses came. I ever check my date of death and it stated in year 2007 13 Sep. It stay at that date for a few years. But last year when I test it again, it stated a even longer year. So is it for real or not? Well, to me, it does not matter whether the world will end in 2012 or not. It is whether we have done what we are by then and can die with no or lesser regrets.

For the time been, I have to say that I am very scare if the world ends, regardless when, as I still have lots of regrets unsolved or done. When once I felt at ease with no more regrets what so ever, I will smile when the world do end if it must. At least, it is a good chance for life to restart. Perhaps then it will be fair. Isn't that what some religion are talking about. Don't ask me if that is right or not. Human at least have ruled earth for a long time than other creatures ever exist, as far as we know. Let God take over, okay?

I do not heed such nonsense. Why should the Mayas be wiser than anyone else? I have read about many Doomsday predictions, and all were obviously wrong, as all future ones shall be, because men do not know that much. Some charlatans just want to scare a few fools who want to believe nonsense and make some money doing it. The Mayan calendar cycle ends in 2012. If the Mayas were still flourishing, they would just begin a new cycle.

First it was the Y2K thing, then it was 6/06/06, and these are only a couple that have occurred in my lifetime. I think that people will always find some new date that will be eveyone's "doomsday" just to be safe enough to say, "I told you so," right before they are obliterated. People love being the first to tell other people something, so pushing things like this through the rumor mill is just one more way of doing so.

I made up this rumor, don't worry it was just a joke, the point of the matter is no one should be scared. The world may or may not end on that date but it will end none the less in 1 million yuears when the sun goes red giant

If you look at history, society always thinks time is on the brink of apocalypse, for thousands of years.

And I think I know why, we fear our mortality too much and it is impossible to believe the world will go on after our deaths.
Sort of disguising fear in something more understandable and grand.

So no, not really, but for me obviously the world could end in 5 seconds.

No. Just as it took a long time to form, the world will take a long time to end!

No, Derek, I am not scared. If the world does end and we all die together then there'll be no one here to feel scared so what the hey, eh?

I wish it would end. There are far more people in numbers who suffer from infectious disease, malnutrition, and toiling than there are those who are happy and not suffering. The utilitarian argument would determine that is the way it should be--that the world should end.

This is the first I have heard of it but it does not worry me now I do know about it.

I am more concerned with surviving in the present than in the future.
