I'm using Paint Shop Pro (version 8) and am currently designing a website. The logo font is Arial & Edwardian Script font which looks great on Paint Shop but when I upload it onto the net the text looks distorted and a bit blurry. Definitely not perfect, and perfect is what I'm after! I've tried changing the size and also the pixels per inch but it's not working.

Any suggestions please?!

Thanks :)

TRY saving it as PNG portable network graphics because Jpeg use an alogrithms to compress the image and this will show up when you try to enlarge the image

When using Paint Shop Pro you have the option to save the image as a PSP type, a gif or a jpg.
The PSP will preserve all layers and will not be compressed but cannot be used on the web. This is very good for preserving a backup of your image.
Gif and jpg types are what you need for the internet but you need to be aware of the size (in bytes, kbytes or mbytes) of the image. Physical size may be an issue too (height and width).
With jpg you can either use save or export.
If you use export you will be compressing the image. This will help with the upload speed of the image but it will also cause a certain amount of distortion to the image. Check the options to see what compression rate you have. You have to play with the values to find the best result for the highest compression rate.
With gif you can also use export but there are different translation methods to choose from to change the colours. Gif images can only use 256 colour I believe. Jpg images can use 16million colours.

There is no hard and fast rule for any of this. You just need to play around with the options and see what happens. Try both gif and jpg and compare them.

Good luck.

Do not save the image as JPG as this can ruin fine detail. Pixels per inch only matters for printing. For displays it is just pixels and the size chosen for display (if included) should be the same as the original – or don’t specify size. Stretching displayed image can also distort it.

I don’t know Paint Shop, but logos/banners should be saved as GIF. These files use a 256 colour palette and there might be a choice, like normal or optimised, on saving. Best option is to produce the image at 256 colours (indexed colour).

Saving as a JPG is fine for web use, normally you can choose the level of compression. Put it at about 60-70% for your logo.

When you upload an image, it changes the resolutnio to 72dpi. This is low but it mesn that pages load quickly. You should make sure that your export your logo as a GIF at 72dpi and check it before it is uploaded.
