Since most jeans are cotton and likely don't have any Spandex in them, it's likely. Especially if you wash and dry them on super high heat. However, I just wash all of my clothes on the delicate cycle and air dry what I don't want to shrink (which means a bit more ironing since the wrinkles from washing smooth out in the dryer, but it's worth it). I just don't trust the dryer. I put a couple of new shirts in there and they shrank. It could have been my fault as we had just moved here and I was still learning the appliance (the washer and dryer came with the house). However, I just do a lot of air drying now, it's not bad. It's worth it to protect my clothes.

If you're concerned about fading, wash your clothes inside out. I do that, too. I like to buy my clothes for as cheap as possible and keep them for as long as possible.

Yes jeans always shrink and the colour fades when you wash them. However if they are a stretchy jean, then they will stretch out again once you have worn them.
