If you have money to burn, they're GREAT cars. Most $50k cars are great.
Every new (er) car loses value very fast compared to say a 5 year old car. That's the thing with the flagship level cars from BMW, MB, Audi, etc. They take a similar nose dive but on a much larger scale.
Off the top of my head, that $50k you payed a few years ago is now probably just about cut in half. I'm guessing $25-30k is what it's worth now. So $25k to drive a 7 series for a few years... if it's worth it to you, great. I'm sure it's a very enjoyable car and if maintained and babied you won't get any rediculous repair bills that German cars are known for. Just be glad you didn't buy an Audi A8.

Here's my own little opinion: Some people are indeed luckier and, by chance, are in a better situation than others. It's just life, but unfortunately the wealth can go to people's heads really quickly. However, you at least recognize that you are very fortunate and were "dealt a good hand", and you are grateful and don't stick your nose in the air. Good for you. And it looks like you also have some brains and responsibility, and are going down a good road. I also think you're right to focus on school for now. I am as well, and it does take up all your time. Just enjoy your life and your wheels, and get a good education on the way. Don't let jealous people bring you down; you seem like a good person.

Its a body style behind right now and they were not popular at all because of the idrive like you said. I wouldn't pay more that $35,000 for that body style.
Make sure it has no problems because they will be very expensive to fix. I personally going to wait for BMW to make their CS series!

Other than the Criss Bangle styled rear trunk and tail lights that just don't fit in and learning the I drive. You have a great car just have to keep it maintained now the free factory brake pads and rotors maintence period is over. BMP parts In of all places Tyler TX has original equiptment and brembo italian brake rotors and pads much cheeper than Dealer. Join The BMWCCA

The car is one of the most expensive car to maintain. It uses duel exhuast that requires 2 catalytic converters and 4 oxygen sensors that fails every 60,000 miles. Each cat is $1500 (comes with 60,000 miles warranty) and replacing O2 sensors would run about $500 - parts only. It is nice car to drive, but is very expensive to keep it.

I would go to BMW and have them give info on 25 recalls and campaigns, all completed recalls, and campaigns require a under the hood sticker, notifying completion.
