A real horse needs a lot of care, and fulltime care.
Is your daughter a rider?.How often?
A true horsewoman should also know how to care for her horse, grooming, brushing, feeding and care, and this is a 24 hrs-7days a week job.
If she is an occasional rider, consider boarding the horse in existing farms with horses. They would have the right horse with the right temperament for her.

Echuca has sales every month up there. Get the weekly times and look in the classifieds there and it usually tells you when they are on. I know with sales, you really need to know a lot about horses and what to look at and which ones are drugged or if there is something wrong with them. But the horse I brought from the pakenham market was a real bargain and his gorgeous. Mind you I had been to about ten of them before I bought a horse,
But if you want a good horse for your daughter and dont want to travel far etc, look up www.petlink.com, but be careful there are some scammers on there and never biuy a horse sight unseen. I had a friend who did and it turned out her $3000 horse had cancer and had to be put down, but this horse was trucked down from QLD. Another great site to buy a horse and all you have to do is select what type of horse you want being novice, advanced etc, and the state you want would be www.horseyard.com. OR look up horse deals on the internet and click on horse $1000 and under. Best bet would be to look around not just for a cheap horse as sometimes you spend say $800 and in the end those horses end up costing you a fortune, but in saying that it could happen when you buy a $6000 horse. Speaking from experience.
Anyway good luck and I hope you find the right horse for your daughter.
Oh and most areas have transport, some livestock carriers up that way deal with horses as well and depending how far they need to travel wont cost too much.
I dont have transport, and I dont have a lot of money, But I always put money aside for my horses.A bit like having children, we have to work to raise our children and give them a better start in life. When it comes to transport I go and hire or borrow a float, should I be shamed because I cant afford a float or ridiculed?.
Guys dont judge this lady, just because she says a cheap horse, this could mean one thats not over $6000. Also she doesnt say she cant afford a float or transport, its that their vehicle cant pull a float! Not all horsey people have loads of money to afford a float or a 4WD to tow the float. If only life was that easy.

If you have the money for the vet expense and care of the horse you may want to try your local Animal shelter. Most of the time they are fimilliar with local people or organizations trying to find homes for horses. This would be a good starter horse. Most organizations, you will have to prove that you can care for the horse emotionaly and financially. They will also inspect your home and land to make sure it is ok for you to have a horse. Good Luck.

A horse is a large responsability, it doesn't seem as if you are financially able to care for a horse, trying to find one that is "Cheap" and then not even being able to transport it?
Where are you going to house it? Do you have a way to get food for it? care for it? I think you should do a little more homework on it before you decide to get one. They are not like getting a dog or a cat that you can keep in the house and feed etc when you have time.
Also what are the laws in the area where you live? are you allowed to have a Horse in your town? check all these things out first.
