Maybe you should try Abraxas Coffeeshop, Jonge Roelensteeg 12-14, Amsterdam. It is in the centre. Also the Rokerij, one near the Amstel and one near the Central Station have good qualifications.
Do not rely on me, try the Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory. this gives the opinion of more than one person. Below

Hill Street Blues!!! I go there every time I visit Amsterdam, it's run by English people and they're always happy to help with advice on the different types of stuff etc ...
It's right by the red light area, just ask and someone will point you in the right direction.
Enjoy!

I always make my first stop the Rokerij, leave Centraal Station, walk straight to the busy street with that huge banner that says "Beware of Pickpockets". Then turn right and walk a couple more blocks until you get to the first canal. Turn left and after another block or so the Rokerij will be on your right.

served? You could get arrested and fined for using a fake ID. If you are under 18, the coffeeshop could lose its license if they sell to you. BTW there are coffeeshops in the rest of the netherlands. Only in the 3 southern provinces they won't serve non-residents of the netherlands

Abraxas. Not the usual tourist trap though lively and chilled out at the same time. They have great decor, not even remotely sedy and they sell their own ash trays which are kind of Moroccan style and really decorative.
