like many answerers here, i also think that the drop of pure love will eventually dissolve into the sea of hatred, BUT a single drop, before vanishing into the huge ocean creates a small ripple on the surface of the ocean, in the same way for a second it will affect the whole ocean before sacrificing itself to hatred. The point where it will fall will be affected the most, at that point some hatred will also dissolve into love, and it is because the drop is a drop of pure love.

If the drop of love really is pure love, then it will just stay a drop of pure love. The rest of the ocean will probably rage at the calmness and serenity of that one drop at first, but there may be other drops who eventually decide to side with the pure love drop... though, if drops are like humans, they would probably want to stay with the majority and continue on with the "safety net" of ignorant hatred.

Like the gram that makes critical mass in an atom bomb and initiates a chain reaction or the single drop of liquid in a titration that turns the whole dark solution clear I think what we are talking about here is quality not quantity and meaning in apparent, overwhelming chaos.Incidentally, the butterfly effect also starts from something small and insignificant and grows exponentially.

Also, a mass of hatred hates itself most of all and anything, however small, that makes it aware of itself by contrast might cause it to destroy itself in disgust, in fear or anger or in ignorance and incomprehension especially because the pure drop is small and innocent.Perhaps this is fanciful optimism but it could be a real scenario and even a strong possibility.

You are either very optimistic or idealistic. What will happen is that little poor unrecognised drop of love will vanish in no time. It may even evaporate before it reaches the surface of the ocean. This may run on contrary with your expected answer but the truth is that life is really cruel as it has always been. To me it looks like putting a shinning cute goldfish in an aquarium full of starving sharks. The goldfish has noway whatsoever to survive. By the way, this is not pessimism as much as realism.

Because opposites attract,they would instantly get along with each other and eventually fall in love.The big sea of hatred would be mesmerised by the drop of pure love , changing its behaviour and becoming at one and the same as the little love drop.The drop ,however would change also ,and turn into a bit of a XXXX,but being small and insignificant it wouldn't be able to cause much harm.Because love is blind , the two of them would live happily together ,leaving us humans on land to carry on fighting ,killing each other and generally ruining everything

Hmm...I don't think pure love by herself could change the remaining droplets into pure love...The ocean of hatred would have to WANT to change. But, maybe seeing as the droplets had known nothing other than hatred before, when they see pure love, they will WANT to change?

It will create a little circular ripple upon the set and sordid surface of a stagnant ocean of hatred. This little gentle ripple of love then will spread all around growing ever so faster and stronger. The fresh air of the atmospheres above for the first time will interact and permeate the waters normally infested with malign emotions and feelings.

The commotion in water will allow the air upon the surface to flow forming gusts of gentle breezes. This combination of tumultuous but freshening waters and the temperate breezes then will create little eddies, ripples more, waves, wavelets with silver crests and ocean currents. These mighty ocean currents then will reach far, travelling to distant lands, entering into moderate climates to bring back new things, and new creatures to populate now changing waters of the mighty ocean rich in oxygen and food. The ocean thus will come to live. It will live and in its kindly embrace will also allow many a creature of the deep and those of the shallows to live and thrive.

However, the hatred will still remain, not reigning supreme with its burning grips upon all things in the ocean, but as occasional occurrence upon the surface, and at time smouldering below as lava flow, in forms of typhoons, tsunamis, and hurricanes it will keep fighting back again and again to regain its previous occupied seat of tyranny. And the ocean dwellers and the one who live close to the seas will have to be always vigilant.
