Yeah, i know that houses recieve current in AC because it's easier to transmit and transform and all that.

What i wanted to know is if TV's use that AC current or convert it to DC current to use in the cathode rays or whatever.

And if they are AC is that because DC wouldn't work and veis versa?

All electronic devices usually need Direct Current supply to work . Also, all devices feature an internal AC to DC converter that will do the necessary conversion. It's too lossy to transmit power as DC, which is why we transmit power as AC and convert them into DC inside the device before use.

AC.

Because all house current is in AC. DC is used for 12 volt car systems and some portable electronics.

Also, AC potentials can easily be transformed into higher or lower potentials using a transformer, giving them an advantage over DC.

AC is used in televisions primarily because "AC electricity also allows for the use of a capacitor and inductor within an electrical or electronic circuit. These devices can affect the way the alternating current passes through a circuit. They are only effective with AC electricity.

A combination of a capacitor, inductor and resistor is used as a tuner in radios and televisions. Without those devices, tuning to different stations would be very difficult."

ac because house currents receive a more consistent, reliable energy source with alternating current
