You observe porn. You physically interact with hookers. Big difference.

You've never been to Las Vegas...

The laws regarding prostitution are largely regulated by the states. There aren't really any federal laws regarding prostitution with the exception of the Mann act, which really just regulates interstate commerce, the inclusion of children, etc..

In Nevada and Rhode Island, it is legal. I imagine that the other states haven't legalized prostitution largely because of the stigma associated with the sex industry and the fear that this stigma could hurt state tourism income. And that's government (both sides!) for you, all about the money.

Pronography, on the other hand, falls under the free speech clause in the (federal) constitution and therefore is accepted as legal.

The difference is the act of sex. Pornography actors are not paying each other for sex. They are paid for the privelage of taking their picture while having sex. Prostitution is payment for sexual acts.

That said, I'm one of those crazies who thinks we'd probably be better off legalizing prostitution and making sure it's made safe and clean, and then taxing the stuffing out of it, with proceeds going to realistic sex education for children and self-esteem programs for young adults, to try to prevent people from becoming prostitutes, or at least understand what they're getting into, and preventing the spread of disease and unwanted pregnancies.

Same reason alcohol and tobacco are legal but marijuana isn't. Porn Stars pay taxes to the government. Prostitutes do not. Anything that can be regulated and taxed can be legal. Money talks.

Pornography, on the other hand, involves person C paying B for sexual activity performed on A. 'In other words, prostitution is and has always been intuitively defined as a bilateral exchange between a prostitute and client,' Goodman opined."

Porn is supposed to be controlled (i.e actors/actresses are regularly tested for STDs), it's not personal and it's safe.

Prostitutes are out there in danger on the street and a lot of murder victims are prostitutes for that reason.

Prostitution is already legal. It's called dating and marriage.

Well to the liberals porn is "art" and protected by free speech, while prostitution is degrading to women. But that's liberal thinking for you.

Prostitution isnt illegal, they call themselves escorts , recieve money for accompyaning a person, and if sex happens it wasnt because of the money, the money is the issue and if the money was just to pay for company, or" escorting" you then no problem. Its just the stupid ones who admit to paying for or recieving money for sex that get busted.
