i saw it as a teenager ... plotline: in a lab they develop a machine that records not only the seen but also the emotion. during experimenting wiyh the tecnology they record themselves having sex and one scientist copies the sequence of having the orgasm, puts it on loop and nearly gets insane while endlessly watching (feeling) it. then someone records a murder and when you watch this you will die ... so the story turns into a thriller ... can someone tell me what movie that was... i need it as a reverence for a paper on virtuality

...you're talking about the 1983 production of "Brainstorm", directed by Douglas Trumbull, and starring Christopher Walken, Natalie Wood, Louise Fletcher and Christopher Walken.

The subject matter of the film was indeed most intriguing and compelling, but was sometimes overshadowed by the death of actress Natalie wood, who mysteriously drowned about halfway through the film's shooting schedule; it would not be until two or three years later, that through very inventive & creative rewriting and reediting, the film was finally released to the motion picture screen.

Twelve years later, director Katherine Bigolow and writer James Cameron would explore similar cyber-technical cerebral territory, with the film "Strange Days".

The answer is Brainstorm but there was no endless orgasm. They had sex and that gave a man a new love for life. There was also no murder, the woman dies with the machine on and it offers them a tape of terror and is ther life after death. It was a good movie and the last movie for Natalie Wood.

Se7en and Saw immediately come to mind. Mary Higgins Clark's 'Loves Music, Loves to Dance' also. Identity. Shutter Island, though that one's new enough you may have seen it. I didn't like Frailty, but I was probably not of the appropriate age to enjoy it, so I'll throw that one on the list. Pandorum, though that one is kind of slow and takes some effort to watch. I'm a huge fan of Sphere. Someone was asking a question about Mindhunters a little while ago - I haven't seen that one and it may be more action based... That's what I got for now. :D
