States like Calfiornia requres the blood test anyway. It is not about whether to marry but there are medical considerations about kids and STDs. The blood tests serve to tell both parties that they are "clean" or "with known conditions"

The blood test you should both should get done is not about the group but regarding STD & HIV (AIDS) which is more important for safe marital life & propagation of progeny. I can't understand a Doctor replied this question but he/she never pointed out this blood test to you.

If that makes you comfortable then yes go ahead and do it. However if youare asking if you have to....no it is not required by law anymore. Also they make meds. that they give women that want to have babies when both parents are neg. blood type. it isn't as big as a deal as it use to be.
Good luck and congratulations on getting married.

As long as one of you has a positive blood type, it doesn't matter. The blood disorder that occurs with offspring, only happens when both parents are of negative blood type. It isn't very common.

Yes. I always say there's nothing more important than having the same blood type as your partner. You never know when you might need another kidney or blood transfusion.

I don't know all the ins and outs, but if you and your partner have incompatible Rh factors, it can cause problems when it comes to having kids.
