no 17 is a good age to start pitching. your muscles don't really start to develope until your about 19 to 25. It takes a wile for mens muscules to come to thier peak depending on what kind of sport they want to get into. Look at some of the older base ball players, thier peak average is in thier late 20s to late 30s and even 40s better than a teenager. So it takes time and effort depending on what you want to persue.

Clay Buchholz is the top pitching prospect in the Red Sox farm system, he has great control, a really good fastball, and better off-speed stuff, anyone who saw him pitch against Roger Clemens in his second start on his road trip knows how good his stuff is, he has the make-up and ability to be a front line major league pitcher.
Buchholz is 22yrs old, and only started pitching in college, 2years ago. He was an infielder before that.
So yea, you can start pitching, but there is a huge difference between bowling and pitching, physically, mentally, mechanically..,

properly warren spahn didnt start up pitching tell he hit the minor leagues in his 20's and don drysdale got here up as an outfielder earlier he began pitching in his 20's so no at 17 youre to no longer previous even regardless of the undeniable fact that it somewhat is going to take an excellent style of artwork and an excellent style of pitches thrown to be a aggressive pitcher. detect a good coach which will artwork with you on the area. somebody that has pitching journey in case you have a double a or unmarried a set on your section an excellent style of situations those coaches would be extra that prepared to artwork with you some. be sure that he has pitching journey which will help including your mechanics and action. dont over throw whilst your arm starts off to experience drained end. have a pitch count quantity and stick to it religiously. do no longer over throw. artwork with what you have. the suited ptichers over all interior the majors dont have actual blazing stuff they pitch by administration. artwork with the arm velocity which you have and it will advance rather at as quickly as. good success and throw strikes.

There are many players that do not start pitching until after they reach the professional teams. If a player has a good arm but does not hit well enough to advance they are usually given the opportunity to pitch before being sent home.

Sure, Joe Nuxhall pitched for the Cincinnati Reds when he was 15 years old in the major league. Anything can happen. If you are good enough go for it.

Why not. Your arm is fresh and that may help you. You may need a couple of years to get the hang of it but you have your whole life ahead of you. Do what you like to now so you won't look back in disppointment.

In my experience pitchers either have talent or they don't, so just start pitching and you'll quickly see whether you have what it takes to make it or not.
