B is the best choice, because the other three are patently false. Capitalism is more efficient and has lower production costs. No system is totally "free" from economic instability.

It should be noted that B isn't a great answer, because there are fewer "benefits of society" to enjoy. You have a smaller pie, but everyone's slice is closer to the same size. Cuba, for example, is a relatively poor country--but their healthcare system is pretty good, and everyone has free access to it. Does everyone have a personal doctor like Castro does? Of course not...but poor Cubans get arguably better health care than poor Americans.

The idea behind socialism is that it takes the profit motive out of some services, so that people of meager means can have a few benefits. It allows for the fact that not everyone gets a reasonable deal in life.

Capitalism relies on the conscience of the wealthy to take care of these people. I guess if you take some people and spoil them and make them wealthy beyond belief, eventually their conscience gets to them.

Either philosophy can work or fail. It depends on the type of people in charge.

The person above is right. In recent history, the capitalistic republic has been the most successful. History has a way of rewriting itself later on, however. One example that continues to perplex me is how so many people are down on China (Bejing in particular). If they are so deprived, then why does Bejing, China have free citywide wireless internet access and no city in America (that I'm aware) of has it.
