I put my foot through my four year olds's pine table which he eats at and is very precious to us both. Had it a long time! It is a clean break, and yes, I know i should have used the ladder but there was someone else on that! I will learn from this one tho! Never stand on a kids table when you have a roller full of yellow gloss in your hand! Thank you...xxx

Well you have two or three choices, depending on how the break is situated, either long ways (end to end) - (side to side) .

First method is suitable for either type of break!.

(1) lay table out on a flat surface so that you can see the underside, Then measure front to back and side to side. inside of the outer rails. Make a note of the sizes and then go to your hardware store and ask if they can cut you a piece of chip board to the sizes you measured.. take the board home and see if it fits, adjust where necessary!. - insure that the table top parts are pulled together tightly.
You can then use pva wood glue to bond the new chip board piece to the original table using weights to hold the chip board in place while the adhesive cures.

Length ways break repair!.

(2) Lay table on flat surface so that you can see the underside. measure across the shortest dimension (side to side).
note measurements. then go to your hardware store and have them cut you four batons,, something like 50x38x times the measurement you took.
Next ensure the table top is aligned and pulled together then try the batons for correct fit. adjust size if necessary!.
Next take you baton and smear pva wood glue on one 50mm side of each piece and then place equally spaced along the length of the table, once all batons are in place you can use something heavy to press down on them over night until the glue has cured.

(3) place table on flat surface, apply pva wood glue to both broken surfaces and then pull the two halves together. ensuring pressure is applied long enough for the glue to start to cure. this method is the easiest but also the weakest!, so if you use this method be careful what you place on the table once it back been used.

Hope this has been of some use!.
