Why do feminists talk about wanting equality but then when asked a question about how men are treated unfairly they avoid the question and focus on how women are treated unfairly?
It sounds like feminists are actually descriminating against men rather then fighting for equality, which equality was supposedly why the feminist movement was started.

QUOTED FROM Graymalkin ANSWER:
"In the absence of any supporting evidence - examples - your premise is merely a figment of your imagination. I fail to see what your age and marital status have to do with anything, and why you felt obligated to include this information.
You are young (but old enough to know better), have little life experience, believe unquestioningly in gender-role stereotypes and have precious little education. That I can tell. It's not our fault that you chose not to take advantage of the opportunities open to you. These opportunities that were/are available to you because of the hard work, dedication and sacrifice of women who came before you. You think the freedom you enjoy today always existed?

Just a note: I am not saying men don't do the same thing my question is about why does it seem feminists do this.
I am for equality among people period. I am a realist not an idealist. I understand that there never will be equality among all people by all people. I've just noticed a trend among feminists and wanted to hear other peoples opinions. Thank you.

Example of a man being discriminated against: When police respond to a domestic violence call in many states the man is automatically arrested even if there is strong physical evidence the woman commited the assault. This happened to my husband many years ago when his ex girlfriend jumped on his back and with a closed fist, smashed him in the nose several times hard enough that it broke and caused it to bleed after he made the only call to the police because she was abusing him. Her attack happened when he informed her that he was tired of the abuse and was leaving and started to walk out the door.

Just like every other group, there are members that represent the whole spectrum. Those with the biggest mouth get the most press. They may or may not represent the majority of the group. I've always included myself with the feminists because I've wanted women to have equal chances at life. It was just years ago that I couldn't get certain jobs and I might add very simple jobs because they were reserved for men only-I couldn't work with computers at Mopac railroad but I could work storing the tapes or as a key punch operator for much less $. I could work at the telephone company and be an operator but I couldn't be a lineman. I could work as a waitress at Stouffer's restaurant-lower level but I couldn't work as a waitress in the revolving restaurant-men only. I couldn't even fly jets or anything else for the airforce. They asked me if I knew how to type. Don't take what you have for granted. There are many that went before you and fought long and hard so that you have choices. It wasn't all that many years ago we didn't have the right to vote and a little before that we didn't have the right to our children if we divorced. We didn't have the right to own land or anything else. And it was just a bit before that we were nothing more than chattle and husbands could do with us as they pleased. You didn't even have the right to not marry because if you didn't marry, you would have no where to go. Now would you like to go back more than 100 years? Do not ever give up any of your rights. And please don't play so lightly with what has come your way. Look around in the world today. Women have it tough in a lot of places. I don't understand any female that isn't a feminist but maybe you are just young and don't realize just what is going on around you. Better learn quickly.
Second thought: I absolutely love men but I'm not getting pushed around. I have a man's job, I make man's money and they can like me or hate me but they are going to respect me.

Please train us - why do not guys decide on to en roll in faculties? By the way in which, each my daughters' boyfriends are going to college in September, or else they look to have profession plans, like apprenticeships, and so on. Neither of my sons went to college - they were not educational sufficient. So I don't have any thought why wise and intelligent guys are refusing to enter extra schooling. So let us know - why? And why you feel it's the responsibility of feminists to pursue this - why do not guys's corporations study this phenomenon? Feminists pursued it due to the fact that on the time ladies weren't prompted to enter extra schooling. My possess mom informed me all I used to be going to be used to be a housewife so I did not want an schooling. And this used to be within the seventies. Many folks had that perspective - I do not think it applies or has ever implemented to guys. Gender Studies: why will have to the weight be on feminists? And do guys's rights corporations think in equality?

Well why do men say they want equality too and rightly bring up different issues that they are facing such as equality within divorce and child custody situations, and then they turn around and completely put women down and stab us in the back after they say they want equality and better rights?
Men and women are discriminating against each other equally and the best thing to do is just go with the flow, do the right thing in your own life and don't worry about all the rest of the BS out there.

I don't agree. as a feminist i feel it is just as important for men to have their own consciousness raised about the important issues of equality. But that's a movement they need to bring on themselves.
we're still busy trying to explain to those women who don't know much about the movement that the issue is so much deeper than equality. So much more than just equal pay, etc. (though that is part of it.)
Read the question by try2block asked in women's studies earlier this evening about Chinese, Mexican......women and which race he should rape first. that will give you an idea of some of the very basic issues feminism is about.

Good question. A star for You.
There are 'Feminist' and there are 'Masculinists'. I personally see Myself as a 'Humanist', (let Me coin a phrase, or new term, a "Peoplist"), because I care about everyone, rather than promoting the advantage of one group or another; and discriminate against neither.
But then, shouldn't We all?

Will you marry me ? wow i cant beleive there is women like you around,, i allways beleive that men has something to bring in to relationship and there is something women will bring into relationship,,but from my own experiance nowdays women tend to think what they get out of relationships, it doesnt suit me because in my culture women balance the men and men balance the women, so each gender have to open up to each other instead of pushing the others idea down the other genders throat,,, Im so in love with you now

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! And now that you have figured out the truth, you had better run for cover because you have a target on your back.
The villainization (made-up word, I know) and emasculation of men and boys has stunted our society to the point that everyday play is considered too violent and real men are hard to find. My 7yo is already having problems in school because he likes guns and wants to be in the military. His teacher suggested counseling. I bought him some more camouflage.
I am in a relationship with a John-Wayne type of guy who takes care of me. My son is into football, guns, and any kind of video game that includes killing Nazis. I am a proud woman. *ducks and runs for cover*
