Simple.put your mouse on the person's avatar and add as contact.that means you are a fan.

you add someone as your contact. then you will appear as his or her fan. just hover your mouse over the avatar and a box will appear, there you can click on an option if I'm not mistaken is 'add to contacts'.

People who have added YOU as a Contact on THEIR page are shown as Fans on YOURS.
When YOU add others as Contacts on YOUR page, you are then shown as a Fan on THEIRS
