I've noticed on all chevrolet models, full size vehicles equipped with the day running lights have either one, or both lights burnt out. I replaced the bulbs and checked the fuse on my 2001 tahoe and they are still not working.

I change these bulbs daily at my job. Check the sockets first. If the outer portion is burnt, get the updated replacements from the dealer. If the bulb keeps burning out and the sockets are okay, replace the bulb. I believe the bulb number is not a 3157, but a 4157 or 4457 (not exactly sure there) but there is a stronger, more durable bulb for it too.

You need to check and make sure you have a good ground. The type of bulbs used are a little sensitive and get quite hot. Considering they are on all the time whenever you are driving, it just appears that they don't last long. There are no recalls as you have mentioned. Its just one of those things. I think the engineers could design a better, longer lasting bulb and socket, but then the parts guys wouldn't sell many bulbs, ya know, LOL Hope this helps out.

I used to work with a man that complained about everything in life and the world.

When the car markes started this practice of day lights he called it an attempt by the auto indutry to make more money off the public. He said the only reason this was done, was so the lights would burn out and cost the people money.

He was a nutty guy, but some of the things he said now make sense.

GM actually changed the bulbs on the daytime running lights. Both sides should be changed to the new GM part number 15199562.
