I would first off know all the pro's and con's about the surgery.
You need to educate yourself on what exactly is wrong with your knee and what the surgery in tails. Would you need physical therapy after, etc. Speak to your Dr. about all of this before making a decision, and possibly get a second opinion.

If you foot surgery caused you problems you should have gone back and got this corrected. Have the knee surgery and get it fixed. Just because one doc didn't do a good job doesn't mean the other docs are bad.

Always be careful with any surgery, but if there is a chance it will help, consider it. I have had 5 surgeries on my knees and although I have great movement and such, there are things I will never be able to do again because of it and I will always have to be careful. But I can still walk and do my job, I(law enforcement) so in the long run, I'm OK.

If the doctor tells you it is necessary, then maybe you should go through with the surgery. Why don't you tell him the situation about your feet and about your concerns with your knees. That way you can have more of a definite answer on whether or not to go through surgery again.

I would suggest that you see a reputable Orthopedic that deals with sports medicine. Start talking to people about orthopedics in your area, reputations etc. If your surgery was done by this doctor you speak of, on your feet, I certainly would have reservations about having him do any repair on your knee. Is he board certified in orthopedic surgery? You can look them up in Hubers, or call the office and ask. Make sure the answers you get are not vague or inference. Make appointments with two other doctors for second opinions. Make sure they do not have any relation to your current doctor who is recommending surgery.

Only you can answer the question that you are asking. If it was me, I would go and get several doctors opinions and go from there. Do research on the type of surgery he wants you to have to try and find testimonials from people who have experienced them. Just remember, do what is best for you. Good luck and hope you get well.

Maybe get a second opinion from another Ortho before going through with it. Find out your options and the prognosis if the surgery is not done. Good luck and best wishes.

I can't tell you if you should or should not however if your knee(s) are bothering you wouldn't the best thing be to get them fix. Have a second opinion if you are uncertain with what this doctor has said to you maybe there is an alternative solution to what is going on with your knee(s). I wish you the best

maybe you should get a 2nd opinion from another doctor. if they say that it's necessary for you to have the procedure, just do it. you don't want to put this off and be crippled or risk having that knee worse than what it is. over time, that would be more painful than getting the surgery
