Such a good question. I loved that movie. Was William Holden hot or what?? I even liked the remake with Harrison Ford, Greg Kinnear, and Julia Ormond. I have a list of great B & W films. Ya ready?

Sergeant York
Witness for the Procecution
It's a Wonderful Life
Lifeboat
Arsenic and Old Lace
Titanic (1953)
The Little Princess
Pride of the Yankees

I could go on. If I HAD to pick only one, it would be Witness for the Prosecution. It has a wonderful cast, a great plot, and a great ending that they ask you not to divulge so others can enjoy it as much. The others I listed also have wonderful casts and plots, but the ending of Witness is truely original. I highly recommend any on my list.

Citizen Kane is one of the greatest films of all time, black and white or color. It is a film that established a new basis for the industry and created many of the shots and edits that we see in movies today. Orson Wells was an industry genius.

Some Like It Hot, though I guess that might not count because color existed, they just chose not to show it due to makeup reasons. The Philidelphia Story would be my other pick.

Young frankenstein and Arsenic and old lace. Actually the original Frankenstein and Dracula movies were pretty good too.
