I love the Halloween season. I'm not really all that big on the whole trick or treating aspect but I love the decorations, Halloween parties, cool, crisp air and beautiful leaves. I also love going to the cider mills and "boo at the zoo". The Halloween tv specials are great too. Oh- and the smell of pumpkin candles.

I say that Halloween is my favorite holiday but that isn't entirely true. Its not really Halloween that I like its the whole month of October leading up to Halloween that I love. I get so excited when I start seeing Halloween stuff in the stores! =)

Plus, right after Halloween comes my birthday, Thanksgiving and then Christmas season.

Do you like Halloween season too?

It is a family favorite around here. We go all out on decorations. We usually have 4-5 carved pumpkins.
Even though one of my daughters is grown and lives on her own now, she still comes over (in costume) on Halloween to help.

Halloween is my most favorite day of the year!! I especially like spending Halloween in Salem, MA, because of all the great costumes there! It's like one HUGH block party with street vendors and entertainment. I love the whole idea and feeling of Halloween. I always have to watch Hocus Pocus around Halloween, it's a 10 year old tradition I do! I would LOVE to get engaged and/or married on Halloween! Guests could wear costumes, instead of stuffy dress clothes. Plus being a Pagan, Halloween is considered the New Year. When the cycle starts all over again. I can say nothing bad about Halloween!!!

I love Halloween, but I can't stand this "Let's make the holiday as froo-froo as possible" attitude that some folks seem to be trying to pull on it. Thankfully it seems like that attitude is dying off and it's getting back to a bit more of a scary holiday. I'm not talking about the costumes the kids wear either, let the kids dress as scary or as cute and adorable as they like I say. I'm talking about some of the decorations folks put up.

Growing up, Halloween was a time for both trick-or-treat and a good scare. Not all the decorations may have been scary, but they at least hinted at it. It's something I've always tried to do, put up decorations that at least suggest a little bit of a scare even if they don't do so.

But there is a limit to who I'll scare on Halloween itself. Give me the older kids, those actually looking to get a scare, and not the little ones. It's fun to see the older kids jump back, stumble over themselves, gasp, or scream at whatever I do to offer up a scare cause once they get over it their usually laughing about it. But the real little kids are far more likely to be traumatized by it. And even worse, likely to be so scared they will be to petrified to even get the candy I'm giving out. It's really only for these kids that I'll drop my own costume and show them they don't have to be afraid, that I'm not really the monster the costume looks to be.

Like I say, for me it's a time for a good scare, as long as the right people are getting it.

I'm obsessed with Halloween. All year long I plan my Halloween costume and possible props for the lawn and front porch of my house. Starting October first, I begin a marathon horror movie spree, watching one movie a night until the 31st. While watching these movies, I don my costume (of course it's completed by then, are you mad?!) and watch the flick by the light of hundreds of candles and jack-o-lanterns. I usually spend around $70 on pumpkins alone.
On October 5th, I start putting up the decorations. We've got a covered front porch, so it's the perfect place to set up a nice themed scene. This year I'm making an life-sized animated witch that stirs a cauldron and cackles. I started on that last month. the theme will be, of course, a witches lair with children in cages, a body suspended by the ankles and being bloodletted, and dozens of crows, all lit by a dozen jack-o-lanterns, a few strategically placed black lights, and a strobe light. Completed with tattered curtains and a huge glow in the dark pentagram painted on the side of the house, it should be the best setting yet.
Oh and candy! I buy close to $100 worth and give out handfulls untill I'm out. Then I just hide on the porch and scare kids when they sneak up.
I also love the time leading up to the date as well. Taking long walks on a chilled night under the light of the moon while the leaves crunch under my feet is one of my favorite things.
I also love running up to pranksters, while on these late-night strolls, while they're in the middle of tping a house and just start yelling as loud as I can while flailing my arms. They're usually so startled and freaked out that they take off and leave their **** behind, then I take their abandoned rolls of toilet paper and eggs and find a fresh house to vandalize the **** out of.
Aw man I love Halloween so much >.<

OMG, I do believe that you and I think alike! I too love the Halloween season. The decorations, by far, are the best for a holiday!

If the Halloween season could be extended to all year long, I would be ecstatic!

Halloween is the greastest!!x-mas is about money,,and every one feels like they Have to buy for everyone,,its stressful for parents and costly,,and the unexpected guest feel left out and u feel bad 4 not thinking of them,,its a money holiday and not about having fun.
We do a spook house every year and it cost about $400 in supplies for one season,,i pay it all and we dont charge,,we just want the kids and the parents to have one good free laught together as a family so they may have that memory as an adult.
Everyone enjoys it and it takes me 2 months to set up.

Yes, I do. I love autumn for many, many reasons. I have lots of memories of Halloween that were fun when I was a kid. Now, love to watch my grandson enjoying this.

Yes fall is a beautiful season and the most colorful. But I stay far away from the whole Halloween thing. The history and roots and Halloween are evil and bad. Though it seems fun and nice, it's not, the devil just uses the treats to lure people in.
