i dont remember what they said it was when i purchased it but it looks similar to a pleco as far as basic body form but he is not a sucker fish he has a mouth and very prominent feelers that look like a mustache he can feel around inbetween rocks and what not, when he was little he had an amazing pattern on him (which is why i bought him) it was a very distinct black spiral pattern over grey , now he looks spotted in stead. i know he is from africa , so what is this fish or at least what TYPE of fish is it so i can research.

Something in the botia/loach group? click on a few of the links on the photos and compare mouthparts/feelers

Just saw the note about the tall dorsal - this wouldn't be a hi-fin/chinese banded shark?: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=860 - don't recall "feelers" exactly, but they have appendages inside the mouth used for feeding.
