MY friends is always in these chat rooms. One night i was spending the night with her and she was in one something like #1 advanced chat or something like that.Ne way. she was all into it so I started watching what she was chatting about, and it was a 38 year old man chatting to my friend who is younger than me and im just getting ready to turn 14. I know older men would love to be with a young sexy girl, but why do young girls want to talk with these old men old enough to be there grandpa? I'm not sure about all older guys in chat rooms, but this one wasn't even doing the sweet talking like they say on datelines predator watch thing. he was just plainly telling her what all he would do if he was there with her and he came straight out and said it, not halfway into the conversation. Like I said most men would love to be not all. so im not trying to be rude or insult any1.

her parents do keep tabs on her computer use, but she deletes the history after she gets to the sites.

The girls either do it just for kicks becuase it's funny to see these old guys get all hot and bothered, or they do it more seriously, as a way to make themselves feel wanted and to make up for insecurities.
I've never understood why it's only the old man's fault on things like you mentioned, Dateline, when girls who are 14, 15 ,16 know EXACTLY what they're doing when they chat up these old men. They aren't naive and they aren't truely victims if they allow themselves to knowingly be in a situation such as coming face to face with old men. You can't put yourself in a place to be victimized and expect to NOT be victimized. And I'm not putting you or your friend down. I agree with you, it's crazy that these girls do this. I am 15, so I know.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being single... I am just a little older then you and have only had one serious boyfriend. I am waiting for the right guy. Being single just shows that you are a strong person. Simply be your self, be confident in your self and you will find the right friends and boyfriend. Your crush on your teacher will most likely pass. Im not sure how to stop other then realize he is probably not the guy for you being that he is a lot older then you. I hope I helped. By the way, Chat rooms are really unsafe and it would be very wise if you stay off them. Find good things to do in your neighborhood and volunteer to help others.

Because the older men convince the girls that their parents are cruel and some just want to rebel and don't realize the dangers of chatting with older men on the Internet. The older men tell the girls that they are beautiful and that they understand what the girls are going through and the girls are so naive that they are willing to believe everything they hear even if it's from a stranger if it will make them feel better. They feel that it's easier to talk to a stranger on the Internet then their parents and feel like they can trust the people they are talking to.

I'm an older man and I never approach a younger woman unless she starts it and never under 18. I also have no interest in meeting up. Many sign off as soon as I say that which leads me to believe many of them want something

Because they dont have the emotional maturity to understand what they are doing, or the risks that they are presenting to themselves, which is why children need loving, caring, supervising parents. Her interactions may stem from a low self esteem that she feeds with comments from older men. Hopefully she doesnt value her self worth based on her sexual attractiveness, but its frightening how many "children" do. Get her someone to talk to, older female friend, phone counsellor, family relative. Also, see if she wants to get involved in charity work, or community activities, things that make her feel good about herself and lessen her desire to approved by older men.

Why aren't this girl's parents keeping tabs on computer use? Men that talk to underage girls are predators, no other way to say it. Why would girls talk to them? Ignorance. No parental guidance. No self esteem. No positive loving father in the home. There are many reasons why young girls fall into that situation and it's sickening.
Men that do this should be lined up, and shot right in the groin.

1. Because older men/boys are smoother than guys their own age.
2. Because they aren't smart enough to realize that the only reason a man that age is hitting on younger girls is that women his own age can tell he's a loser from a mile away.
