I was driving my Toyota with a buddy and we were going about 60km/h. He was screwing around and for some unknown and crazy reason, he shifted my car into reverse and then into park. I realized immediately and shifted back into drive. This lasted about 2-3 seconds and I didn't notice anything peculiar during the incident or afterwards. However, I am really worried that he may have damaged by transmission. Does anyone have any insight for me?

All I ask is you give me the best answer to this question. If your friend did this and you are still alive then great. The Problem is not with your gear set. I know these people say that they work for ford or anywhere else but I am a master tech and have worked on trannies all my life. What you need to look for is fluid leaking if he did this then you may have a seal problem the gears can handle this especially in a toyaota. Toyota trans and ford trans are completely different and if this happen in a ford then your car would be done. When you put your gear into reverse at that speed all you pressure changes which means you blow out seals. Just kidding in the begining this will not cause your car that much damage and will not kill you. The seals are an easy fix if this happen and are not that costly. good luck and if you need futher advice email me at lowryjeffrey@yahoo.com
thank you

You need to find a new friend, or ask yourself why your self esteem is so low that someone you consider a friend would do such a thing to your car. You may have gotten lucky and not damaged anything, but shifting into reverse or park with an automatic transmission while in drive at any speed other than zero could have disastrous results.

If it did any damage then you would already notice the problem. It did not do the car any good and it was a stupid thing to do. I would guess you got lucky and didn't do any serious damage. Find a new buddy though. Or at least take his car next time. good luck

You didnt injury you transmission in any respect. I dont why that guy is answering questions interior the vehicle section. vehicles could be shifted manually. Its no longer propose except you're especially circumstances like mountains or snow and understand what you're doing. The trans. shifts from 2 tocontinual besides he in basic terms made it do it manually. At that velocity it could have shifted approximately that element besides. I cant have faith that guy could complication somebody whilst he doesnt have a clue what hes typing approximately.

Did the car buck or come to a stop? If so it may be damaged. If you realized it that quickly and were able to shift back into gear you may have gotten lucky. I would duck tape him to the seat next time...
