I prefer Barnes and Nobel. Browsing is just more fun there. I don't have the privilege anymore. Dad passed away almost a decade ago. He always appreciated the thought behind whatever I could afford. Enjoy your dad!

I have only ever been to one Half Price Books store, and I wasn't very impressed because they had a relatively small collection. Yes, your money does buy more, but is it really worth it if you cannot find what you really want?

I would go with B&N. Between the ability to browse the stores, and their powerhouse website, you can't go wrong. I am a bibliophile, and I know from experience they have the absolute largest collection of titles available. Even Amazon doesn't hold a candle to them.

I would go with whatever you can afford. I usually don't do Father's Day, as my father lives in the Middle East and couldn't care less as long as he gets an e-card. I do right around $25 for Mother's Day, though. Sometimes, if we've got some extra money, I make it a bit more, and sometimes, if times are tight, a bit less, but it averages $25. The nice thing about that particular amount is that if he should decide to order online, shipping is free on orders of $25 or more. It's also a good amount because it's pretty close to the average cost of a newly released hardback book.

Just remember that dads are like moms. They are happy with whatever you get them and whatever your budget allows.

I would go for $15-$25 Barnes and Noble gift card. I've never used Half Price Books, but I could easily spend hours wandering through a Barnes and Noble....

I'd say for about $25.00 (yikes, no one else has said amounts so don't know if I'll come off cheap or average).

I'd probably go with Half Price Books just because, as another individual said, he could get more there. At our store, there are places for people to sit and relax; I often find good reads in the clearance section. If he likes to browse and is open to different authors (maybe he has a favorite genre), think this would be a good bet. And who knows what treasures he might find?

P.S. Someone else has recommended amount, too. Good. I'm not so far off...gotta tough budget about now.

I would go with Barnes & Nobles because one can order a book if they do not have it, whereas half price books only keeps what they have in stock or what has been sold to them already so if they dont have it your just out of luck. I ordered a book once that had to be literally found.......just a thought.

I would say Half Price books because he can get more for his money. I would give him a $50 gift card if you can or $25. Goodluck! Try ebay gift card too I'm sure he would love a million and one things from there!

Either - Any gift certificate for books is good (in my opinion).

If it's for the same amount of money, he might get more out of the certificate if it's for Half Price Books though.

My frustration with Half Price Books is you can't use their gift cards to make purchases on their website. What company does that??!!!
